PANTHER INDY LIGHTS DRIVER TAKES CHECKERED FLAG IN 18TH

SONOMA, California (August 18, 2008) – Starting in the 18th position, Panther driver Dillon Battistini knew it would take a strong effort and a little luck to move up to the front during the Carneros 100.  Unfortunately for Dillon, only one of those happened as Battistini finished 18th with only two cars not finishing the race at Infineon.

For the driver of the No. 15 National Guard Delphi car, who slipped to sixth in points, the challenge will be to stay as close as possible to third in the championship with two races left on the schedule.

“Even though the finish wasn’t where we would have liked, we are still within striking distance of third place,” Battistini said of his race effort.  “It was good news when Arie Luyendyk, Jr. spun and we moved ahead.  Unfortunately we weren’t able to stay there.  Our objective this weekend is to stay in touch with third and capitalize on the oval in Chicago.”

The Firestone Indy Lights teams will be in action next for the Valley of the Moon 100 tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).  The Infineon Raceway races will air on ESPN2 Thursday August 28th at 5:00 p.m. (EDT).
